Chapman attended a meeting of the Forty and Eight in Charleston several days during the week-end. Nineteen employees of Whitten Village attended the annual South Carolina State Employees meeting held in Drayton Hall, Columbia, on Friday. Capt. and Mrs. L. C. McCarthy and children, Gregory and Amy Elizabeth, of Shreveport, Lla., ate visiting the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter A. Johnson.- Capt. McCarthy leaves Saturday to reutrn to Shreveport for fev- eral weeks and will attend sum mer camp. Mrs. McCarthy and children will remain here until the latter part of July when they will move to Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Mrs. Albert C. Jones and daughter, Ann, formerly of John son City, Tenn., are spending several weeks with her mother, Mrs. L. C. Duckett. Mrs. Ken Bogle and son, Ly ons, of Marietta, Ga., are visit ing her mother, Mrs. Ayliffe Ja cobs. Mr. Bogle will join her over the week-end and accom pany them home. Mrs. John Pittman and chil dren of Rockingham, N. C., were recent guests of her mother, Mrs; John W. Little. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. King spent the week-end in Hendersonville, in. C. Dr. and Mrs. S. C. Hays were recent visitors in Hendersonville, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Young, Jr., and daughter, Kay, will leave over the week-end for a vacation trip to New York. Mrs. E. J. Adair and Mrs. Geo. Gambrell are spending some time in Hendersonville, N. C. Mr. and Mrs. Thornwell Dun lap will leave over the week-end to visit their daughter, Mrs. Geo. Brockenbrough, Mr. Brocken- brough, and daughter^ Mary Lee, in Endicott, N. Y. Mrs. Leila Johnson and Miss Cornelia Harris "will, leave Sat urday to attend the national B&PW convention in Miami, Fla. Mrs. Johnson is the delegate and president of the local chapter. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Simpson and children, Ricky, Martha Ann and Eddie, formerly of Laurens, are now residing here. They have purchased the former Thayer home on Stonewall street. Mr. Simpson owns and operates a ser vice station and grocery at the junction of Musgrove street and the Spartanburg highway. Misses Dell Wilder and Kay Thomas are spending a month at Camp Pinnacle, N. C. Mrs. Lewis Pitts and son, Lew is, Jr., were guests several days last week of the former’s brother and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs. Paul A. Wood in Camden. Mr. and Mrs. Joe F. McMillan and children of Toccoa, Ga., Mrs. Marguerite M. Ferguson of Co lumbia, spent the week-end with their mother, Mrs. Jodie C. Mc Millan. Mrs. Nene D. Workman, chap lain of the South Carolina di vision of the UDC, accompanied by Misses Margaret Ann Bolcik, Sara and Jackie Pitts, attended a luncheon and meeting of the South Carolina ^children’s divis ion, UDC, Wednesday, June 20, in dewberry at the Central Metho dist church with the Calvin Croz- ier and Rutherford chapters as hostesses. ‘ Mrs. Milford Smith and daugh ter, Gail, spent last week in Blacksburg with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. C. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kilgore of Jacksonville Beach. Fla., visited the former’s sister, Mrs. James C. Marshall, and Mr. Marshall here during the week-end. They were accompanied home by Miss Betty Marshall. Mr. and Mrs. Mar shall leave tonight to spend sev eral days in Jacksonville^Beach and accompany her home.” Lt. Col. F. V. Truluck Is Delegate To Lions International Rembert S. Truluck is in Mi ami, Fla., this week to attend the International convention of Lions clubs as delegate from the Clin ton club. He left Monday, and was ac companied^ by Mrs. Truluck and their son. Rev. Rembert Truluck, Jr. The convention got underway Wednesday and will close Satur day. About 50,000 Lions from all over^e world are expected at the convention. From 150 to 17b of Miami’s resort hotels have been taken over to furnish ac commodations for those attend ing the meeting. Truluck is the retiring secre tary of the Clinton club and is chairman of Zone 6. Baptist Young People Go To Ridgecrest A group of young people from the First Baptist church leaves today to attend the second Sun-, day school week at Ridgecrest, N. C. About three thousand rep resentatives from the Southern Baptist convention territory will be in attendance for the week June 28-July 4 * Mr. and Mrs Robert Johnson and family. Mr. and Mrs Leroy Sanders and family will accom pany the following young people: Granville Webb, Jean McDaniel, Vinney Smith. Martha Jean Hor ton, George Beatty, Robbie Young, Diana Spencer. Mary Keith Adair, Robert Horton and Linda Bridges. Baptist Brotherhood Hears Mr. Kolb Frank R. Kolb, the executive secretary of the Baptist Founda tion, was the guest speaker at the Baptist Brotherhood meeting on Thursday evening, June 21. at the First Baptist church here.
