Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Lark visit ed Mr. and Mrs. Donald Calla han in Piedmont Sunday. Joe Lark returned home with them after the week-end with the Cal lahans. Mrs. John son returned home with her son for a visit and Miss Johnson will join them Wednesday for the hoi days. Miss Janet Poole spent the week-end with Miss Norma Jean Leslie in Greenville. Mrs. B. Birthday Party Enjoyed Saturday evening Miss Judy Ellis was honored with a party at her home on the Whitmire highway by her mother, Mrs. Houston Ellis. Judy was cele brating her 13th birthday. A large group of young folk joined her in Vxlebrating with games and contests. Hot dogs and drinks were served, after which the beauti ful birthday cake was cut and served. The honoree was prseented many lovely gifts. Lydia Methodist Church Naws The young people of the church will meet Sunday eve ning at 6:30 at the church for the purpose of organizing the Meth odist Youth Fellowship. At this meeting officers will be elected and the MYF will then meet each Sunday at 6:30 p. m. at the church. They are Mrs. Carnes’ sons and Mrs. South’s and Mr. James’ brothers. Junior Tumblin, GM3c, who has been stationed in Charleston, is being transferred to the Naval Base in San Diego, Cal. Wicks, in Long Beach, Cal. at to at- Woman's Club "Men's Night" Held In a setting of flowers, green ery and turkeys the annual room with the Lydia Woman’s in the Providnece school lunch Men’s Night” banquet was held club as hostess. A bountiful turkey and ham dinner was served buffet style by Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Wison to thirty-five club membres and their guests. Mrs. David Roberts, president, welcomed the guests and then introduced Miss Rebecca Speake, chairman of the March of Dimes drive for the Clinton area, who spoke in behalf of the polio pro gram. The club voted to sponsor the drive at Lydia. Later Mrs. Claude Gilstrap program chairman, directed sev eral entertaining games. Th turkey favors and decora- itnos were made by the Blue Bird girls for the club and were very much appreciated. Teachers and Officers To Meet The teachers and officers of Lydia Bapitst church will hold their regular monthly meeting Monday evening at 7:00 p. m. at the church. Bridal Shower Given Honoring Miss Carolyn Ben nett, bride-elect, a lovely party was given Friday evening at the home of Mrs. J. B. O’Shields. Miss Bennett was presented a white mum corsage. Hostesses for the party were Mesdames Johnny Reeder, Toy O’Shields, J. H. Crowe, J. B. O’Shields and Mrs. Sarah Jen kins. Several appropriate games Exchange Student To Speak At Sandy Springe Sung Ho Lee, a Korean ex change student at Presbyterian college, will speak at the Sandy Springs Methodist church Sun day evenin, at 7:30 p. m. Mr. Lee has been an interpret er between the communists and the United Nations forces. He will tell something of the Christian work of the Protest ant churchse in Korea. The pub lic is invited. Mrs .J. B. Abercrombie, wife of the pastor of Welcome church, taught the lesson. An intermission was held at which time a covered dish sup per was served. The meeting closed with sen tence prayers. With The Sick Mrs. Hugh Ballard was admit ted to the Baptist hospital in Columbia Monday for treatment. * Mrs. S. J. Todd is ill at her home. Mrs. Frank Goss is much im proved after a week’s illness. Birthdays and Anniversraies John Gallman celebrated a birthday November 16. Little Jerry Goss will be one year old November 26. Mrs. Chess King will celebrate her birthday November 27.
