Coy O’Shields, of Fort Hen ning, Ga. # Circle To Sell Chicken Stew Members of the morning circle 'of Broad Street Methodist church are taking orders for chicken stew, with proceeds set to benefit the church building fund. The stew is being made every Wednesday by Mrs. William Bell and anyone wishing to order may contact Mrs. Bell or Mrs. Howard Smith, circle chairman. Dessert Bridge . Given For Qub Last Wednesday afternoon Mrs. Frank Cauley gave a des- 4 sert bridge for members of her club. During the afternoon Coca- Colas were served to the eight members present. Score winners were Mrs. D. B. Templeton and Airs. Howard D. Mixon. Arrangements of zinnias were used in the home for the occas ion. Mrs. Cruickshonks Gives Party In Visitor's Honor Feting Mrs. L. C. McCarty, of Shreveport, La., who is visiting ' her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walter * Johnson, Mrs. Alex Crulckshanks entertained with seven tables of bridge Monday afternoon. Arrangements of zinnias were used in the living room and den along with a sea-shell motif used in other decorations and in re freshments. After three progres sions of bridge, a salad course was served by the hostess, assisted by her mother, Mrs. W. G. King. Score winners for the afternoon were Mrs. Claude Crocker and Mrs. Murphy Timmerman, and the honoree was also remembered with a gift. On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs. Cruickshanks had her bridge club and several additional tables. After cards were laid aside, a salad course was served, and priz es given to Miss Lillian Dillard, club high; Mrs. B. F. Wingard, visiting high, and Mrs. Fred Pitts, low. ^ Mrs. Jacobs Fetes Daughter Mrs. Ayliffe Jacobs honored her daughter, Mrs. Kenneth H. Bogle, of Marietta, Ga., who is visiting her this week with a luncheon on Tuesday. Places were set for 16 friends of ^ Honors Bride-mect were used in the living room and elsewhere in the house. In the din ing room tea was served from the dining table covered with an im ported linen cloth. An arrange ment of white roses, tuberoses and fern was centered on the ta- ^>le. Mrs. Pearson Gives Shower Mrs. Paul Pearson entertained at her borne on Davidson street Friday evening with a miscel laneous shower honoring Thursday evening the Beta Sig ma Phi sorority entertained with a picnic supper at Greenwood State park, honoring a member, Miss Janice Glenn, bride-elect. During the evening a picnic sup per was served. Miss Glenn was presented a crystal sandwich tray inscribed with thd'Geta Sigma Phi insignia. Three other members, Ml ss ’ Mri. Ifvin Shook, Mrs. Ed Byrd and Mrs. Ed Pease who are leaving Horrill-McCrary Rites Announced Charlotte, N. C., and Greenville, Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Harrill of announce the marriage of their daughter, Patsy, to Billy Lee McCrary, son of Mrs. C. H. Mc Crary and the late Mr. McCrary of this city. The ceremony took place at 6:00 p. m., July 24, at the home of the Rev. W. L. Bolt, pastor of Sans Souci Baptist church in Greenville, who performed the double ring ^service. The vows were spoken in the presence of the immediate fam ilies and close friends. For her wedding the bride wore a pale blue dress with white accessories. Following the ceremony the couple left for a trip to the mountains of North Carolina and Virginia. Upon their return they will make their home on Centennial street in this city. The hostess also remem bered an out-of-town visitor, Mrs. Pearl Werts of Columbia with a gift. After several progressions of bridge, the hostess, assisted by Mrs. James Addison, served a two course luncheon. also remembered the honor guest with a gift. After cards were laid aside, Mrs. Stone presented Mrs. Werts with a gift, and Mrs. Jo die Chandler won high score, and kept the floating prize. • • • Continuing the group of parties given for Mrs. Werts Mrs. Larry Dillard and Mrs. Mayme Todd entertained a group of friends with supper and bridge last Fri day evening at Mrs. Todd’s home. The hostesses served a salad and sweet course and later sev eral progressions of bridge were played, with Mrs. G. Pringle Copeland winning high and Mrs. Ferdinand Jacobs keeping the floating prize. Pringle Copeland, Jr., enter tained her bridge club last Wed nesday afternoon at her new home on the Jacobs highway. A group left Clinton early Thursday morning traveling in several cars, and spent the day, joining several other guests who were there for the week. After a buffet style lunch, three tables of bridge were as sembled, with Mrs. Posey Cope land and Mrs. Grace Conner, a visitor from Arabia, winning score prizes.
