Chicken Stew
Members of the morning circle
'of Broad Street Methodist church
are taking orders for chicken stew,
with proceeds set to benefit the
church building fund.
The stew is being made every
Wednesday by Mrs. William Bell
and anyone wishing to order may
contact Mrs. Bell or Mrs. Howard
Smith, circle chairman.

entertained with seven tables of
bridge Monday afternoon.
Arrangements of zinnias were
used in the living room and den
along with a sea-shell motif used
in other decorations and in re
freshments. After three progres
sions of bridge, a salad course was
served by the hostess, assisted by
her mother, Mrs. W. G. King.
Score winners for the afternoon
were Mrs. Claude Crocker and
Mrs. Murphy Timmerman, and the
honoree was also remembered
with a gift.
On Tuesday afternoon, Mrs.
Cruickshanks had her bridge club
and several additional tables.
After cards were laid aside, a
salad course was served, and priz
es given to Miss Lillian Dillard,
club high; Mrs. B. F. Wingard,
visiting high, and Mrs. Fred Pitts,
low. ^

Mrs. Ayliffe Jacobs honored her
daughter, Mrs. Kenneth H. Bogle,
of Marietta, Ga., who is visiting
her this week with a luncheon on

a picnic supper at Greenwood
State park, honoring a member,
Miss Janice Glenn, bride-elect.
During the evening a picnic sup
per was served. Miss Glenn was
presented a crystal sandwich tray
inscribed with thd'Geta Sigma Phi
insignia. Three other members,

Rites Announced
Charlotte, N. C., and Greenville,
Mr. and Mrs. B. P. Harrill of
announce the marriage of their
daughter, Patsy, to Billy Lee
McCrary, son of Mrs. C. H. Mc
Crary and the late Mr. McCrary
of this city.
The ceremony took place at
6:00 p. m., July 24, at the home
of the Rev. W. L. Bolt, pastor of
Sans Souci Baptist church in
Greenville, who performed the
double ring ^service.
The vows were spoken in the
presence of the immediate fam
ilies and close friends.
For her wedding the bride
wore a pale blue dress with
white accessories. Following the
ceremony the couple left for a
trip to the mountains of North
Carolina and Virginia.
Upon their return they will
make their home on Centennial
street in this city.

her bridge club at the heme of her
daughter, Mrs. James Addison in
Joanna last Thursday morning.
The house was decorated with
arrangements of summer flowers,
and four tables were arranged for
cards. Mrs. G. Pringle Copeland
and Mrs. E. H. Hall were score
winners. The hostess also remem
bered an out-of-town visitor, Mrs.
Pearl Werts of Columbia with a
gift.
After several progressions of
bridge, the hostess, assisted by
Mrs. James Addison, served a two
course luncheon.

and kept the floating prize.

with supper and bridge last Fri
day evening at Mrs. Todd’s home.

played, with Mrs. G. Pringle
Copeland winning high and Mrs.
Ferdinand Jacobs keeping the
floating prize. The honor guest
was also remembered with a gift

EASTERN STAR TO
HAVE PICNIC TUESDAY
On Tuesday evening, August 2,
the local Easter Star chapter will
entertain with a picnic at the
Chapman cottage on Lake Green
wood. All Eastern Stars and fam
ilies are asked to come and bring
picnic baskets.

on furlough with his parents, Mr.

son is a member of the 10th In
fantry Honor Guard stationed at
Fort Riley, Kansas. A tour of j
duty in Germany is scheduled to
begin in September.

Mrs. Cecil Wilson invited her
bridge club to meet at the Wil
son summer cottage at Carolina
Lake Colony, near the North
Carolina state line Thursday.
A group left Clinton early
Thursday morning traveling in
several cars, and spent the day,
joining several other guests who
were there for the week.
After a buffet style lunch,
three tables of bridge were as
sembled, with Mrs. Posey Cope
land and Mrs. Grace Conner, a
visitor from Arabia, winning
score prizes.
