Guests included husbands, wives, friends and other mem bers of the families of the em ployees. Softball and other games were played before the picnic supper. Buffet Supper Shower Honors Bride Complimenting Mrs. Joe Bonds, a recent bride, Mrs. Clif ton Adair, Mrs. Lucius Bums, Mrs. John Darts and Mrs. Ralph Dula of Laurens entertained on Wednesday evening of the past week at the Adair home here. Upon arrival guests were in vited into the recreation room where a buffet supper was serv ed from a table prettily appoint ed with a low arrangement of daisies Throughout the home was lovely with roses, gladioli, and lilies. Adorning the dining table was a crystal compote fill- ad with lavender dahlias and yel low lilies. Mrs. Bonds was pre sented a shower of gifts during the evening from the fifty guests attending. Shower Given For Miss Chaney Miss Ida Gene Chaney, whose wedding will take place June 26, was feted with a kitchen shower on Tuesday evening by Mrs. T. J. McCarty and Mrs. Ray Thomas at the home of the former. Upon arrival the bride-elect was presneted a novelty corsage darfgnod of plastic spoons. Throughout the evening bridal games were enjoyed, and later the honoree was presented the shower of gifts. The hostesses served a party plate with punch. For the occasion the home was attractive with floral arrange ments, shasta daisies predomi nating. Charles Henry Crenshaw of Laurens, announce the engagement of their daugh ter, Betty Jean, to the Rev. Clyde Lambert Ireland of this city and Laurens, the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. H. Ireland of Columbia. The wedding will take place August 1 at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany, in Laurens. *• 'Idle Moments' Club Entertained Wednesday afternoon of the past week Mrs. F. C. Pinson was hostess to the Idle Moments club at the R. G. Murphy home. In the reception hall daisies and lilies wefe used in decora tion. Roses with other summer flowers adorned the living and dining rooms with dahlias and lilies in a crystal compote cen tering the dining table. Three tables were arranged for rook and following the games salad and dessert courses were enjoy ed. Bridge Party For Visitor Honoring Mrs. A. S. Roberts of Winmington, N. C., house guest of her sister-in-law. Mm. C. C. Giles, Mrs. B. F .Wingard enter tained friends for three tables of bridge on Tuesday afternoon. Cdven were laid for refresh- the honoree were invited for the sweet course was enjoyed. Dais ies and day lilies made a pret ty setting for cards. Mrs. Cecil Wilson made top honors. Frank Fowler and Mm. Mrashall Lanter enter tained on Tuesday evening. Daisies, gladioli and roses were prettily arranged in the home. During the evening guests were invited into the dining room for refreshments which, were served buffet style. Lighted green tap ers in silver holders flanked a central arrangement of daisies and Queen Anne’s lace on the table which was overlaid with a lace cover. Mrs. Tom Cooper assisted th« hostesses in the courtesies of entertaining. Mrs. Bonds was presented with a shower of gifts and the host esses remembered her with china in her chosen pattern. Sara Glenn Circle Honors Recent Bride The June meeting of the Sara Glenn circle of Broad Street Methodist church was held on Monday evening with Mrs. Joe Davidson and Mrs. Louise Hilton wKh Mm. S. M. Warner assisting as hostess. Mm. Jim Buzhardt led the mission program displaying and explaining the emblem of the Service and its aims and pur poses. Mrs. J. B. Arnold told of the Suzanne Wesley home in Brussells for refugees or dis placed persons. During the social hour the group honored Mrs. Joe Bonds, a recent bride, with a kitchen shower for her new home on North Adair street extension. Out of town guests for the tea were Mrs. Wayne Jarvis of Co lumbia and Mrs. Don Winslow of Martinsville, Ind. Wilmington, N. C., announce the birth of a daughter, Amy Lynne, on June 9. Mrs. Odom is the former Miss Lucy Ann Thomas, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Thomas of this city. Eichelberger en tertained at noon on Thursday of the past week with a luncheon for her daughter. Miss Catherine Eichelberger, a recent graduate of Agnes Scott college, and elev en of her friends. A luncheon was served buffet in the dining room followed by a dessert course. An arrangement of roses prettily adorned the luncheon table and elsewhere in the home summer flowers were decorative. Place cards marked the guests’ places at small tables centered with bud vases of pansies nad sweetheart roses. Party Given Here For Bride-Elect Miss Rivanna Hill of Cross Hill, who will be married on July 10 to William Dudley Bar- row of Greenville, at the Cross 1 Hill Baptist church, was compli mented with a drop-in by Miss Martha Wilson on Tuesday after noon of the past week. Miss Wil son will sing for the wedding. About twenty friends of Clin ton and Cross Hill \frere invited for the occasion and enjoyed con tests following the bridal theme. The place of the honoree was marked with a corsage of white carnations, and she was also pre sented a gift of silver in her chosen pattern. Party favors were bride’s bouquets fashioned of colored gum drops. Gladioli and roses were com bined with other flowers of the season in decoration of the re ceiving rooms. Hill, of Crocs Hill, was a Lovely Tea Given For Mrs. Bonds Complimenting Mrs. Joe Bonds, the former Miss Jeanette Pitts, Mrs. Louie Thornley and Mm. Ray Pitts entertained with a seated tea Saturday afternoon at the Thornley home on Florida street. The receiving rooms of the home were beautifully decorat ed with a variety of roses com bined with Shasta daisies and magnolia in artistic array. A mantel arrangement of roses was blended from pink to red, and daisies and magonlia were used on the secretary in the living room. A pink motif was effec tively carried out in the dining room.
