Beard of Greenville, has accepted a position with the lo cal Colonial Stores as head of the produce department His family will join him here in the near fu ture. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Spratt and Miss Lillian Quinn of Blacks burg, spent the week-end with their sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Tribble. Miss Jennie Payne, student at Salem College, Winston-Saleln, N. C., spent the week-end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Horace D. Payne. Friends of Mr. Payne will be interested to know he re turned to his home here Tuesday from General hospital, Green ville, where he has been a pa tient the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Burton K. Wood, ward returned yesterday to their home in Millington, N. J., after spending the past week with their daughter, Mrs. Donald Schlier, and Mr. Schlier. Mr. and Mrs. Elwyn Sturgeon and children spent the week-end with the former’s mother, Mrs. H. E. Sturgeon. Their friends will be interested to know Mr. Sturgeon was transferred by the Commerpial Credit Corp., from Greenville, to Florence whero they are now making their home. Mr. and Mrs. John Long of Johnstown, Pa., are spending several weeks with their daugh ter, Mrs. James Rutledge and Capt Rutledge at their home on Young Drive. Mr. and Mrs. Grady Adams and children of Aiken, spent the week-end with the latter’s moth- |er, Mrs. Inez Pruitt, and sister, Mrs. Frank Cauley. Friends of Mrs. Nowton Jones will be interested to know she is able to be out again after being ill at her home the past week. Lt. and Mrs. George Brocken- brough and daughter, Mary Lee, of Darlington, Md., spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. R. T. Dunlap near here and Mr. and Mrs. George Brockenbrough in Kinards, having been called here due to the death of Mrs. Brock- enbrough’s grandmother, Mrs. Annie Dunlap of Mountville. Miss Emma Gray of Convene college, Spartanburg, spent the week-end with her parents, Rev. and Mrs. James S. Gray. Mr. and Mrs. James F. King of Arlington, Va., spent several days last week with the latter’s mother, Mrs. J. W. Leake and other relatives. Mrs. Thomwell Dunlap has re turned to her home in Killeen, Texas, after spending several weeks with relatives here and in Greenwood. Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Todd of Gray Court, Mr .and Mrs. R. L. Ramage of Ware Shoals, Mrs. E. L. Chipley of New York, and Clyde Moss of Richmond, Va., were guests Sunday evening of Mrs. J. C. Copeland and Mrs. E. L Chandler. Mrs. Morgan Todd spent sev eral days last week with rela tives in Greenville. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Avery and daughter, Agnes Caroline, of Rock Hill, spent several days last week with Mr. and Mrs. Irby S. Hipp. Miss Enid Lancaster of Char leston, spent the week-end with friends'on the orphanage campus and attended the Military Ball Friday evening Mrs. B. C. South, well known Clin ton resident for the past nine years, will observe his 81st birth day on March 21. He is a native of this county and moved here from Gray Court. Mrs. South will observe her 81st birthday on May 28. Their friends unite in wishing them many happy returns. Miss Wotts , Has Accident Friends of Miss Rachel Watts, of Mountville and Greenville, will be interested to know she frac tured an ankle in a fall and is now at home for a few days.
