Major and Mrs. Clyde Smith, Jr., and children of Hunter Field, Savanah, Ga., were week-end guests of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Smith. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Thomas and daughters of Char lotte, N. C., spent Sunday with fhe Smiths. Friends will be in terested to know that Major Smith left yesterday for six weeks in Africa. Mrs. Sarah Wheatley and Mrs. Gladys Trout and Misses Gail and Annette Hodge were recent visitors of their brother and un cle, Claude Sims, and Mrs. Sims. Mr. and Mrs. David Roberts and daughters attended the Rob erts-Blacks ton reunion in Lau rens Sunday. - Mrs. Mason-Turner of Ham 1 eV N. C., has returned home after a several days stay with Mr. and Mrs. Earl Hamrick. Mr. and Mrs. S. F. Cook of Rock Hill, spent Sunday with the Ham ricks. Miss Ray Roberts is visiting with Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Roberts in Winnsboro this week. Ann Glenn of Clinton, and Sharon Sims of Greenwood, spent the past week with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claud Sims. Mr. and Mrs. Ru dolph Sims and Betty of Green wood, were week-end guests of the Sims family. Mr. and Mrs. Allen White. Jr., visited the former’s father, Mr. White, Sr., who is a patient in a Columbia hospital, Sunday. Mrs. C. R Roberts of Laurens, spent the past week with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. David Roberts Mr. and Mrs. James Sanders and sons visited the former’s mother, Mrs. G ^S. Sanders, in Union Sunday. Misses Pat Davenport, Shirley and Mary Ellen Bodie have re turned after several days vaca tion stay at Myrtle Beach. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Hogan of Union, visited Mr and Mrs. James Hogan Sunday while en- route from Charleston. Rev. and Mrs. C. B Word and children will leave Sunday for a month’s visit with the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hal C. Wil ey, in Tuscon, Arizona. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Johnson and daughter. Mary Jane, of Charlotte, N. C-, were week-end guests of Mrs. W. E. Johnson and Miss Mary Johnson. Mr. and Mrs. Huber Robinson of North Carolina, visited Mr and Mrs. Floyd Poole during the week-end. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Glenn and Keith of Greenville, visited Mr- and Mrs. Clyde Trammell during the week-end. Keith remained with Kenneth Trammell for the week while Miss Ruth Trammell returned home with the Glenns for a visit. Mr. and Mrs. Ithiel Harvey and daughters were recent visitors of Mrs. L. Alexander Young Girls Have Picnic Several neighbor young girls gathered with picnic lunches at the Lydia cook-out on Friday af ternoon They played games -and due to the rain went to the home of Sue Word where they enjoy ed their picnic. Girls To Moot Monday The Wahanka group of Camp Fire girls will meet Monday af ternoon at the Community build ing. Mrs. J. B. Templeton in vites all girls to be present for this important meeting. Birth Announcement McCauley Mr. and Mrs. James Lindy Mc Cauley of Laurens, announce the birth of a daughter, Ginger Paul ette, on August 1 at Workman Memorial hospital in Woodruff. Mrs. McCauley is the former Miss Patsy Windsor. Both she and Mr. McCauley are former Lydia residents. Woman’s Club Enjoys Picnic On last Thursday evening members, with their families, of the Lydia Woman’s club enjoy ed a picnic at Stomp Springs pic nic grounds. A large group gath ered for the occasion which is an anual affair with the club. Brido-Elect Party Thursday evening Misses Jan et Motte and Kathleen Dees hon ored Miss Doris McDonald, Au gust bride-elect, with a bridal shower. Several games, using the bridal theme, were enjoyed by the group. Summer flowers decorated the receiving rooms. Refreshments were served by the hostesses, after which gifts were presented the honoree in eluding china and crystal in her chosen pattern.
