B. CANNON, County Agent 4-H Ponltry Members Receive Chicks Seven 4-H clufo members in special poultry project received their baby chicks last Friday. Each clufo member received 100 pure bred Parmenter Red chicks. Those receiving chicks were: Bobby Hanna, Thornwetl; Jerry Sanders, Cross Hill; Jerry Camp bell, Gray Court; William Arm strong and John T. Irwin, Trinity Rddge, and Jack Penland and Richard Hanks, Oak Grove. The poultry project is under the supervision of the Extension Agents and assisted by local lead ers in cooperation with the spon sor, Sears, Roebuck and Company. The chicks are paid for by each clufo member who returns ten pul lets in the fall that are sold at public auction, and the proceeds of the sale are used for purchas ing chicks the following year In similar manner. Sears, Roebuck and Company donates |100 as prize money for the fall show. Scholarship For AgrteaMoral Farm boys wishing to attend Clemson College to specialize In some phase of agriculture or in vocational agriculture education, have an opportunity to win one of 12 scholarships offered by Sean- Roebuck Foundation. Each schol arship is worth $150 for the year beginning in Septesrtber 1954. Ap plicant must meet the Clemson College requirements to enter the freshman 1954-55. Each person wishing to stand * examination competing for the scholarship must have his appli cation on file with Prof. J. M. Stepp, chairman.
