Notice To Veterans A special meeting will be held Thursday night, July 31, at Acade my street school in Clinton at 7:30 for the purpose of organizing a VFW post in Clinton. All overseas veterans are invited to attend. If you are already a member of a VFW post you can transfer your membership to the Clinton post, if so desired. Church Group To Meet The ladies of the Presbyterian church will meet on Tuesday eve ning at 7:30, the date being chang ed from the first Thursday, Aug. 7 to Tuesday, July 5. All ladies of tne church are in vited to be present. The meeting will be at the home of Mrs. J. B. Neal, 183 Cypress street. Girls Day Camp ClosM ’ Lydia’s first day camp for girls, sponsored by the Camp Fire Girls organization, was very successful. Fifty-seven were enrolled with the following staff members: Mrs. lone Wallace, George Fleming, Miss Mary Johnson, Mrs. J. B. Temple ton, Mrs. Roy Thomas, Mrs. Fran ces Warner, Mrs. Pat Sholar, Mar garet Mitchell, Miriam Templeton, Patsy Windsor and Pat Davenport. A regular camp schedule was carried out. The day began with a devotion and flag raising cere mony. Classes in music, arts and crafts, swimming and recreation were enjoyed. The outdoor pro gram was carried out when the group went on a spend-the-day trip to Table Rock state park. The highlight of the week’s ac tivities was the Camp Fire cere monial held Friday night on the athletic field. The Camp Fire girls inner circle wore their Indian maiden ceremonial robes. A^ hon ored guests the outer circle was made up of Blue Birds. The Wo- helo call introduced the ceremony and after the Indian hand sign the group sang several Camp Fire songs. The three candles signi fying work, health and love, were lighted by Mickey O’Shields, pres ident of the Wahankas, Carolyn Bennett, president of the Aowaki- yas, and Mrs. Lois Webb, repre senting the loaders of Camp Fire. Miss Mary Johnson, president of the Lydia Woman's club, was rec ognized, and George Cpmelson talked of the importance of a Camp Fire organization to a community.
