Several years ago they retired ifcom the undertaking business. The ' firm ranks as one of the three oldest jin the city, being exceeded in years ionly by Young’s Pharmacy, estab lished'in 1882, and M. S. Bailey & Son, Bankers, in 1886. ■ Mr. Tribble, because of advancing years, retired t rom active participa tion in the firm in 1946, with the business conducted by members of the family. Mr. Tribble was a builder, as their ! plant on Gary street will quickly show. He built not only for himself but for others, and during his 65 ’ years residence here he staked his faith in Clinton. Whatever he built, he built well. A man of keen busi ness insight, he always showed a willingness to go forward and backed his judgment by his financial means. | As a citizen, Mr. Tribble was pub lic-spirited and always ready to give his moral support and financial aid in any undertaking for the welfare of his city and community. His code of business ethics was high and clean, and in his business he carried the same integrity and character dis played in his personal life. He was devoted to the Associate Reformed Presbyterian church, of which he was a deacon, and was a devoted family man. Adair, who was reared in the Trib ble home; one half-sister, Mrs. Wash Horton of this community; one half- brother, E. W.. Stone of Union; and four grandchildren, Mrs. Ed Wills of Spartanburg, David E. Tribble of Nashville, Tenn., Miss Louise Tribble and R. L. Plaxico, Jr., of this city. County Form Bureau To Meet In Lourens May 27 A meeting of the Laurens County Farm Bureau will be held Tuesday, May 27, at 10 a.m. ^at the Agricul tural building in Laurens. The pur- pose of the meeting ic tn prnrnnt th<x new casualty insurance plan for Farm Bureau members recently adopted by the South Carolina Farm Bureau board of directors and an nounced at the State Farm Bureau ; training school at Camp Bob Cooper. James A. Rogers, executive vice- president of the South Carolina Farm Bureau, said that substantial savings will be offered to Farm Bureau board members. Plans to offer this insurance sen- vice to members of the Farm Bureau in South Carolina began immediately after passage by the 1952 state gen eral assembly of the state financial responsibility law which becomes ef fective January 1. South Carolina Farm Bureau mem bers will be given the opportunity to invest $200,000 five per cent prefer red stock in the Southern Farm Bu reau Casualty Insurance company of Jackson, Miss. Full details of the plan and how it will benefit Farm Bureau members will be outlined at the meeting in Laurens Tuesday. Officers, directors and members are invited to be pres ent. Representatives of the State Farm Bureau and the insurance company Mrs. Vester Posses Mrs. Vester Sorrells Hunt, 68, wife of J. Victor Hunt, died Friday at the home of her son, J. O. Hunt, Route L after an illness of several months. She was a native of Georgia, but had lived in South Carolina a number of years. Mjrs. Hunt was a daughter of the late J. M. and Matilda Jane McGraty Sorrells. She was a member of Bai ley Memorial Methodist church. Surviving are her husband; one son; and one daughter, Mrs. Minnie Skipper, of Pauline. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at Bailey Memorial Metho dist church by the Rev. Wallace Ter ry. Burial was in Rosemont ceme tery. Nephews were pallbearers. Honor ary escort was members of the board of stewards of the church and E. C. Barbee, Melvin Seay, Tom Lawrence, George Penland and M. C. Guest. Kiwonians To Hear International Head —♦— Claude B. Heilman, president of Kiwanis International, will come to Columbia Friday to address an inter club meeting of South Carolina Ki- wanians at 7:30 that night at the Jefferson hotel. ' Mr. Heilman, who is a Baltimore public utilities executive, will be ac companied by Kiwanis governor V. O. Tally, the secretary, and two lieu tenant governors of the state. He advised that lo- | cal board No. 30, located in the city hall in Laurens, is open Monday .through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 1 ' 5:00 p.m., and persons required to do i so should register at once. It is the' duty of every male person to regis- ‘ I ter within five days after reaching i his 18th birthday and he should re-j port for registration to the nearest | selective service local board if it is not convenient for him to report to the local board nearest his home. A] person who knowingly and willfully j fails to register makes himself liable for penalties under the selective ser-j vice law. , Mr. Lewis also pointed out that a registrant is charged with the duty, of keeping his local board informed of his current mailing address, and to notify his board in writing of any change in his status which might af- fec his classificaion.
