Church News Rev. H. C. Holt will preach at the 11 o'clock hour Sunday morn ing at the Lydia Presbyterian church. Services are held at the Community center. With The Sick Billy Motte, son of Mr. and Mrs. W. L. Motte, continues ill in a hos pital at Fort Sam 'Houston, Texas, where he has been serving in the army air force until recently. James Richey is undergoing treatment at the Veteran's hospital in Columbia. Bridges of Laurens, a member of the county legislative delegation completing — hi$ first two-year term, has urged a special session of the state legislature to amend the election laws to permit service men to vote by absentee ballot. Rep. Bridges made his request in a latter recently to Gov. James F. Byrnes. The present election law has no provision by which an absentee ballot may be cast, and Rep. Bridges pointed out that “to deny that right (to vote) to the thous ands of South Carolinians now in the military service of the United States would be a grave injustice.
