Williams visited their daughter in Greenville Thursday^ Mr. and Mrs. Paul Turner - and family of Greenville, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Putnam. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Womble and children of Winnsboro, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Dock Dover. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Snipes and daughter, Mrs. Helen Berry, spent Sunday in Ninety-Six with Mr. and Mrs. Claud Berry. Mr. and Mrs. T. D. Jones of Greenwood, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. H. A. Magdalene Leopard has been ill the past week. The children of Mr. and Mrs. Walker Osborne have been ill with flu the past week. William Cannon continues ill at his home. Social For Junior Group Thursday evening at 7 o’clock at the Community house the Junior Missionary Society of Bailey Mem orial Southern Methodist church had a costume social for prospec tive members. - Invited guests were Misses-Linda and Rachel Blackwell, Bobbie Ann and Shirley Heaton, and Ann Cooper. After a time of active games and group singing the group enjoyed .refreshments served by Mrs. Mur ray Adams, the sponsbr, Misses Au drey Jo Maye, Ruby Meadors, Dor othy Norris and Patsy Webb. Mem bers were present to entertain the guests, except the president, Miss Peggy Dunaway, who was ill. Honored On Birthday Clarence Oaklev was surprised on Wednesday night, Feb. 27, when a number of friends gathered at his home on the Greenwood high way to celebrate his birthday. Supper was served buffet style. He was remembered with gifts. This Week at the Conrpnunity was remembered with man^ gifts by the 14 guests present. The McWhar- ters have left Clinton to make their home in Athens, Ga., where “Mac” is planning to go into the cattle and dairy business. Their many friends here-will miss them. Youth Nnight Saturday Last Saturday night the young people enjoyed an evening of lively games and good fun at the Com munity ' house. Mrs. Keith McGee will be in charge of the entertain ment Saturday and refreshments will be served by Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Riddle and Mrs. Laura Mae Howard. All youth are invited at 7:30 -when L. R. Campbell, presi dent, gets the activity underway. Woman's Club Plans Work The Woman’s club which pre sents an interesting variety of pro grams throughout the year, takes the place of the PTA which exists in other cities. All mothers with children are invited to join the of- gah iiation. Membership is not limited to those with children in school, but is open to any woman who is interested in helping in the school. Last year the club sponsored the redecoration of the auditorium at Academy Street school. This year its aim is to benefit the choirs of the school by'•making white choir robes for a public performance of the choirs. Also for the first time it is planned that the seventh grade will have graduation exercises. Once each year the teachers pre sent their pupils in a program of variety entertainment for the par ents and members of the club. Special features which are helpful to women are presented at the meetings held on the third Monday of each month. This month the club will meet on Monday, March 10, instead of the following week. Miss Kate Milam will speak on “etiquette,” and Mrs. Marie B. Arthur, a home stylist of Greenville, will speak on “Interior Decorating.” Chicken Stew Friday Friday afternoon, March 7, the Woman’s Misionary Society of Bailey Memorial Southern Metho dist church will sell chicken stew at the Community building be tween 4 o’clock and 5:30. Society Elects Officers • Monday evening, March 3, , the Woman’s Missionary Society' of Bailey Memorial Southern Metho dist church held its regular meet ing at the home of Mrs. W. R. Ter ry. After a devotional by Mrs. Sullivan and the Bible study in the book of John, the business was tak en up. Officers were elected for the coming year. Those chosen were: President, Mrs. W. R. Terry; Vice-President, Mrs. David Word;- Secretary, Miss Marie Weiir; Treas urer, Mr. Marcell Barker. Re freshments were served by the hostess. Schubert Music Club Meets Monday evening the Schubert Music club met at the Community building. In the absence of the president, Jackie Franks, the vice- president opened the meeting and presided over the business sssion. After a biographical sketch of Robert Schuman by Mrs. Joe E.
