Social For Junior Group
Thursday evening at 7 o’clock at
the Community house the Junior
Missionary Society of Bailey Mem
orial Southern Methodist church
had a costume social for prospec
tive members.
- Invited guests were Misses-Linda
and Rachel Blackwell, Bobbie Ann
and Shirley Heaton, and Ann
Cooper.
After a time of active games and
group singing the group enjoyed
.refreshments served by Mrs. Mur
ray Adams, the sponsbr, Misses Au
drey Jo Maye, Ruby Meadors, Dor
othy Norris and Patsy Webb. Mem
bers were present to entertain the
guests, except the president, Miss
Peggy Dunaway, who was ill.
Honored On Birthday
Clarence Oaklev was surprised
on Wednesday night, Feb. 27, when
a number of friends gathered at
his home on the Greenwood high
way to celebrate his birthday.
Supper was served buffet style.
He was remembered with gifts.

Enjoy Weiner Roast
On Thursday night, Feb. 28, the
Horizon girls and their friends en
joyed a weiner roast at Mary Lou
Stock Farm. Mrs. .J. W. Smith and
Miss Nellie Osborne went with the
group and all enjoyed the fellow
ship and games of the occasion.

A supper party was given Thurs
day evening, February 28, in honor
of Mr. and Mrs. Marcus McWharter
and boys at the home of Mr. and
Mrs. L. C. Ficklin. The McWhar-
ters have left Clinton to make their
home in Athens, Ga., where “Mac”
is planning to go into the cattle
and dairy business. Their many
friends here-will miss them.

Youth Nnight Saturday
Last Saturday night the young
people enjoyed an evening of lively
games and good fun at the Com
munity ' house. Mrs. Keith McGee
will be in charge of the entertain
ment Saturday and refreshments
will be served by Mr. and Mrs.
Ralph Riddle and Mrs. Laura Mae
Howard. All youth are invited at
7:30 -when L. R. Campbell, presi
dent, gets the activity underway.
Woman's Club Plans Work
The Woman’s club which pre
sents an interesting variety of pro
grams throughout the year, takes
the place of the PTA which exists
in other cities. All mothers with
children are invited to join the of-
gah iiation. Membership is not
limited to those with children in
school, but is open to any woman
who is interested in helping in the
school.
Last year the club sponsored the
redecoration of the auditorium at
Academy Street school. This year
its aim is to benefit the choirs of
the school by'•making white choir
robes for a public performance of
the choirs. Also for the first time
it is planned that the seventh grade
will have graduation exercises.
Once each year the teachers pre
sent their pupils in a program of
variety entertainment for the par
ents and members of the club.
Special features which are helpful
to women are presented at the
meetings held on the third Monday
of each month.
This month the club will meet
on Monday, March 10, instead of
the following week. Miss Kate
Milam will speak on “etiquette,”
and Mrs. Marie B. Arthur, a home
stylist of Greenville, will speak on
“Interior Decorating.”

ing at the home of Mrs. W. R. Ter
ry. After a devotional by Mrs.
Sullivan and the Bible study in the
book of John, the business was tak
en up. Officers were elected for
the coming year. Those chosen
were: President, Mrs. W. R. Terry;
Vice-President, Mrs. David Word;-
Secretary, Miss Marie Weiir; Treas
urer, Mr. Marcell Barker. Re
freshments were served by the
hostess.
Schubert Music Club Meets
Monday evening the Schubert
Music club met at the Community
building. In the absence of the
president, Jackie Franks, the vice-
president opened the meeting and
presided over the business sssion.
