Continuing the association’s pro gram of informative talks by quali fied speakers on the new education program in the state and county, the Florida Street school PTA will hear Dr. G. J. Martin at their next meeting on Tuesday, December 4. Dr. Martin a graduate of Presby terian college, is asssitant superin tendent of the new Greenville county school district and is also responsible, under the state educa tional commission, for the surveys which are to be made in all 46 counties in order to evaluate exist ing facilities and formulate plans for the reorganization necessary under the new law. School dis tricts will base their building pro grams for the next five years on Tele-1 the results of these surveys and it lc! is with this aspect of school dis trict consultation that Dr. Martin will deal in his talk here. After the ceremony the couple left for their wedding trip through Europe, after which they will sail for America, arriving in New York next month. For traveling the bride wore a two-piece suit of gray flannel with yellow accessories. Mrt. Ferriter attended the Clin ton city schools and Winthrop col lege. For the past year she has been connected with the American Embassy in Cairo. Before going there she served with the Depart ment of the Army in Washington, and was also with the Army At tache in Petoria, South America, for two years prior. Mr. Ferriter is a graduate of No tre Dame Academy and has been associated with the Socony Vacuum Oil Co., in Cairo. After a four months leave in the States, they will return to Cairo for three years. " Long Branch Club Holds Meeting The November meeting of the Long Branch Home Demonstration Third Grade At Academy St. School Has Temperance Program An official program on Temper ance Day, October 19, was prepared to aid in the observance of the day set aside to teach the effects of nar cotic drugs including acohol. The 37 pupils of Mrs. Nene D. Work man at Academy Street school gave club was held at the school build ing on Monday afternoon with Mrs. Joe Poole, Mrs. Claud Madden and Mrs. Charlton Benjamin, Sr., as hostesses. The meeting was called to order by the president, Mrs. Poole. After singing the song of the month, "Come Ye Thankful Peo^jje, Come,” Mrs. J. M. Cunningham gave the devotional and read the 116th Psalm and offered prayer. The roll was called and the minutes read by the secretary, Mrs. W. P. Aber crombie. The nominating committee sub mitted the following names as of-* fkrers for another year, who were elected: President—Mrs. Claud Madden. Vice-President—Mrs. J. D. Cun ningham. Secretary—Mrs. J. M. Cunning ham. Mrs. Ellie Poole, local leader, dis cussed Christinas decorations and made an attractive Christmas tree crenoline and colored stars. The hostesses served refresh ments.
