Visitors From New York Two representatives from Clin- j ton Cottons, Inc., the New York selling office which represents Ly dia and Clinton Cotton Mills, visit ed the mills and communities Mon day and Tuesday of this week. They were Mrs. Betty Meyers and Miss Loraine Desmond. Since it was their first visit to the South, and also their first trip through a' cotton mill, they were very much impressed, they said, and enthusi astic over their experience. Kindergarten Mothers Meet The Kindergarten Mothers club ( met Thursday night in the lounge of the community center with Mrs. David Word, president, presiding. She opened the meeting with a de votional on the topic of “Room to Grow.” x Mrs. Mary Parrish, secretan^. r called the roll and read the min utes. Plans were made for the pre sentation of the Tom Thumb Thumb wedding given Saturday night in the auditorium of Provi- • dence school. The club also spon sors the School of Dance. The club made plans for the run- r ning of a Queen in the Tom Thumb Bowl in Clinton this month. The club meets the first Thurs day in each month and all moth ers are incited to these meetings. Bluebirds Meat At a joint meeting held monthly, all groups of Bluebirds under the leadership of Mzv. A. C. Young, Jr., Miss Mary Johnson, Mrs. Ralph Harbin and Mrs. Wallace, gathered at the community center Tuesday afternoon for a social hour. Miss Johnson had charge of the music program, using several navelty and action songs. Mrs. Harbin read a very interesting Puppy and I poem by A. A. Milne. Mrs. Young led in the games and the group en joyed folk dancing. Special guests were Mrs. Thomas Jacobs, Mrs. Davis Holland, Mrs. Lykes Henderson and Mrs. Roy Casque, who are Bluebird leaders, from Clinton. Three little Blue birds from Clinton were also visi tors. Clinton Mills Loads In Quis With the score of the series of j “The Quiz of Two Mills" now run- j ning 6 to 4 in favor of the Clinton Mills, the Lydia tea mwon the con test this week wth teams of both mills representing the Men's clubs, tegory sports. And what player of football was known as the ‘Galloping Ghost?,... Red Grange. A. C. Young, Jr., making the on ly perfect score of the evening, drew a set of questions of Clinton- Lydia Mills personalities. He knew that P. S. Bailey*-is president of Clinton and Lydia Mills, that Mrs. Eva Lalid is the community worker of the Clinton mills and David Word is paymaster of Lydia Mills. These questions were sent in by Mrs. Peggy Davenport. J. B. Neal, past president of the Lydia Men’s club, was given the category of comic books sent in by Mrs. Curtis Taylor. He was quite a bit puzzled to find the name of Roy Rogers’ horse was Trigger, GGene Autry’s horse, chamlpion, and Hopalong Cassidy’s was Top per. The Clinton team was represent ed by Arthur Howard, James Stone and Dewey Oxner. Prizes are given weekly through the courtesy of Clinton and Lydia Cotton Mills. Head Springs W. M. S. To Meet With Mrs. Jones The Womans Missionary society of Head Springs A. R. P. church will meet with Mrs. H. T. Jones on Sat urday, November 10, at 4:00 p.m. The theme of the meeting will be “Thanksgiving.” The regular thank offering will be received, which will be divided among three causes, Er- skine Theological seminary, and church buildings at Dunlap orphan age and Candler Road congregation in Atlanta, Ga. The final chapter of the annual Bible study, “Applied Christianity— Studies in the Book of James,” will be taught by the pastor, Rev. Wil liam C. Alexander.
