The public is cordially invited to attend the services. G. A.'s Hold Moot The Girls' Auxiliary met Monday night at the home of Mrs. Clyde Trammell. The meeting was open ed with Mary Jane McLendon in charge of the devotional, which was taken from John 4:5-30. The roll was called and minutes read by the secretary, Xarolyn^, Bennett. . The program theme was “Being Busy,” with several members tak ing part. The group joined in singing “Faith of Our Fathers.” Mickey O’Shields closed with prayer. Fennell, Mr. and Mrs. Billy Fennell attend- Winners In Quia Program The community center was crowded Tuesday afternoon as the program. “Quiz of Two Mills." was recorded by Bob Smith with the radio station in Laurens. The first contestant was David Word, who selected a category of"‘ “A Dollar Bill,” sent in by E. W. Mitchell. David had three of these quick-thinking questions. First that Washington's picture was on a dollar bill, and that there are 25 ones written on a dollar bin, and that there are two ways to change a dollar into 50 even pieces. He won a pair of bathroom scales for being on the program. Mrs. Gay Douglas, stenographer in the Lydia office, answered the questions of United States govern ment sent in by Mrs. Virginia Reed er of Clinton. She answered all the questions, first that Labor Day is the only national holiday estab lished by congressional action, that the Secretary of State would be the chief executive if the president and vice-president both died, and that the library of congress is the place where the orginial declara tion of independence is kept. She received Shalmar gloves as a prize. Mrs. Mary Parrish selected a quiz on the history of Clinton, sent aving lived in Clinton for some time she was well pleased with her category and answered correctly three questions, that the new hotel in Clinton is named for Mary Mus- grove, that Dr. William P. Jacobs founded Thornwell orphanage, and the Blue Hose is the name of the football squad at Presbyterian col lege. The score so far was a tie of 3-3, Clinton making a score of 70 to Lydia’s 65 put the visiting team ahead. The two teams next Sun day will be made up of members of the outside crew.
