She was a native of Laurens county and a member of Hopewell Metho dist church, from which funeral ser- ■ vices, conducted by Rev. H. F. Bauk- night, assisted by Rev. M. K. Med- ■lock, were held Tuesday afternoon. Interment followed in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Randolph Davis, Hugh Bonds Workman, Claude Mon roe, Charles Workman, Downs Mon roe and Hayne Workman. Mrs. Zimmerman is survived by two sons, Dan of Latta, and Hubert of Charlotte; one brother Vernon Mon roe of near Clinton and two sisters, Mrs. J. L. Dickert, near Clinton, and Mrs. William DeGross, St. Peters burg, Fla. H, Ward, ex tension division director. The Clin ton center is one of the 26 teaching centers being conducted at present by the University extension service. Courses taught are chiefly in the field of education, through some cen ters also offer sociology. Although the subjects offered ap peal largely to teachers, all adults adults are eligible to attend the centers, whith are taught by in structors approvved by the Univer sity. Both graduate and undergrad uate credits are given by the Uni versity for the classes, which are held one afternoon a week for three hours. The centers are run on a semes ter basis, corresponding with the semesters at the University. Miss Esther Graydon, director of instruc- ■ tional work for the extension divis- ! ion, said this week that -plans are already made to reorganize the ex isting centers so as to offer courses during the spring semester, and that the extension division hopes to open additional centers in the state. ‘ County Restaurants To Get Sanitary Grading Columbia, Dec. 9.—(Special to The Chronicle.)—There are 18 restaur ants in Laurens* county, according to the latent figures available, and' they all will be required to comply with a recently announced ruling concerning sanitary grading, accord- 1 ing to T. P. Anderson, chief sani tary engineer of the State Board of Health. W. M. Nash, Jr., Laurens county sanitarian, is in charge of restaurants inspection in the county. All grade “C” restaurants in the state must be raised to an “A’., or “B” status within thirty days or they will no longer be permitted to operate, under the new regulations which will go into effect January 26. After that time, Sanitarian An derson explained, any restaurant fall ing below the “B” classification will be alloted thirty days in which to meet requirements. Albright Elected Rock Hill Mayor Clarence H. Albright, known to many friends as “Ikie,” was elected mayor of Rock Hill last week after 'having formerly served as a member of city council. The announcement will be one of interest here to his friends. Mr. Al bright is a son of the late Dr. George C. Albright of this city, and Mrs. Al bright who resides in Greenville. He is a nephew of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Shands of this city. New Manager For Dayton-Clinton Hotel Mrs. Ruby Bryan of Macon, Ga., is the new manager of the Dayton- Clinton hotel. She succeeds W. H.
