Waits and children, Linda and Gene, of Greenwood, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. W. K.. Waits. Ervin Stroud spent Prosperity with the Mr. and Mrs. O. F. Oxner, Hilda Pomaria. Mr. and Mrs. Mark Tew of Cum herland, N. C., spent a few days last! week with Mrs. E. J. Willingham, j and Mrs. Floyd Wicker. Mark is formerly of Goldville, and has served 19 months in the European theater of war. He has received an honor able discharge. Nabors Harold Rhodes of the Marines, has landed safely in California. Miss Virginia Bolt, Mrs. Frances Doles and Mrs. Leda Davis were visi tors in Greenville Saturday. Pfc. James Simpson has returned to Goldville after serving 36 months in the Pacific. "Shike.” as he is known to his, friends, has received an honorable discharge. Mrs. R L. Francis, Mary Francis and Mildred Bozard were Saturday visitors in Greenville. Mrs. Sigsbee L. Hair has receiv ed word that her husband. Cpl Hair, is on his way home. Messrs. Fearless Rowe. J. L. Bride-Elect Entertained On Monday evening a group of friends of Miss Marjorie Crawford, young bride-elect, entertained for her j at Joanna club with a miscellaneous shower. Mrs. J. L. Brawley greeted the Quests upon entering. Miss Crawford's chair was marked with a white covering touched with ivy. She was presented a corsage of' white carnations. The games were under the direc tion of Mrs. R. L. Francis and a pro gram of music was presented by Mrs_ Alec Crawford, vocalist, and Miss Virginia Bolt, pianist. The hostesses served chickep salad, cookies and coffee. The honored guest received many gifts for her home. Out-of-town guests were Mrt. Alec Crawford, Mrs. Julian Bolick, Mrs. J. B.
