He was in the following campaigns: North ern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, ; 3nd Central Europe. Grrover Jenkins, of Greenwood, visited relatives and friends here! Monday. Rev. and Mrs. C. R. Anderson and Ruth of Pickens, spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Roy Sanders. William Roy Fuller, S. 2c, of Camp Perry, Va., spent the week-1 end at home with Mrs. Fuller and his mother, Mrst Mary Fuller. Mrs. Maud Hoffman of Rock Hill, spent a few days last week with her sister, Mrs. Homer Richey. Watts Stewart of Laurens, visit ed Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Blackwell Monday. Mrs. M. C. Smith and Mrs. Emma McManus visited relatives here Sun day. Pvt. Jim Bailey of Camp Carson, Coio., is spending a leave with Mrs. Bailey and his father. Mr. and Mrs. Milton King of wreenville, were week-end gpests of Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Jackson. S. 1c and Mrs. Tracy Dees and childlren and Mrs. Grady McEl- hannon and children visited the latter's father, G. E. Prather, in Salem Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Kellett of Ninety-Six, visited the latter’s par ents, Mr. and Mrs. C. J. Blackwell, Saturday. Mrs. Marvin Harvey has returned home after being a patient at the local hospital. Ezra Bowen, S. 1c, has received a discharge from the navy. He and Mrs. Bowen will make their home in Eycamore, Ala. Mr. and Mrs. James E. Jackson, of Greenwood, visited the former’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Jackson, Sunday. Mrs. Ben Harvey and daughter, Mrs. Marvin Harvey and children and Mrs. Ithiel Harvey spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. Er nest Harvey in Woodruff. Mrs. S. T. Hunter of Anderson, I spent a few days with her daugh-> ter, <^nd son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.) Clarence Neal, recently. MrS. P EACE is more than the absence of war. Peace is a friendly; handclasp, small talk on a front porch, friends in for dinner. And until we have all this, we won’t have real peace — the feeling in our hearts that all is right once more. Right now, we can make a good start towards this goal. For, right now, in our local community campaign, we have the chance to help our neighbor. To help him regardless of who he is or how he worships. To act together in mutual trust and confidence. ^ And this is democracy in its finest expression. This part of all we are fighting for.
