DAGUE versary October 2nd. , ————————— PARSONAGE DESIGNED TO MATCH CHURCH Special services are being planned for the third anniversary of the GoldvlUe Baptist church on Sunday, October 3. Dr. W. S. Brook will be the guest speaker at the morning service, the pastor announced. At 2:30 in the afternoon there will be a special service for the young men in the service. One hundred cadets from the Training Detachment at Presbyterian college have been invited to worship with the congre gation at the services, and be their guests for dinner. The public is cordially invited to attend both of the special services. On the first Sunday in October, 1940, the congregation of the church entered their new building. It was erected at a cost of $20,000 pins; $10,000 of which was raised in subscriptions by the congregation, and $10,000 given by W. H. Regnery of Chicago, president of the Joanna Textile Mills company. The opening services were in charge of their beloved pastor, the late Rev. C. C. Vaughan, who was called to his reward February 24, 1941. The Rev. James B. Mitchell was called as the first full-time pastor of the church. He took up his duties on April 1, 1941. The building was dedicated mi July 27, 1941. Immediately plans ware put underway for the construction of a parsonage, which was completed and occupied in March, 1942. The building is a six-room brick structure designed to match the church. It is equipped with gas heating, cooking, hot water mm! refri gerator.
