Candlelight Service At First Baptist Church Mrs. Martin Entertains' For Bride*Elect Mrs. Gary Martin entertained Miss Macie Davis, bride-elect of the numth, with a dinner party at her home on North Broad street on Fri day evening. The dining room was prettily deco rated in the Christmas motif. A four- course dinner was served to sixteen close friends of the hemor guest. Coming as a surprise to Miss Davis was the presenting of miscellaneous gifts. Marcia Galloway read an interesting paper, ’“Christmas Carols and Their Origin.” The girls glee club of Clintonthigh school sang “Silent Night.” All Joined in sin^ng a number of other carols. Small tables were aiqiwinted for supper in a festive holiday setting featuring evergreens, bright berries, tinted tapers, and a prettily deco rated Christmas tree. Small glowing candles adorned each table. A chick- dinner was served after which ty of the Clinton Kiwanis club took place last Thursday evening in the attractive Joanna Club House at Goldville. The party is given annital- ly diulng the pre-Christmas season in honor of the “Kiweens” and in vited guests. William A. Moorhead, the retiring president, presided as master of cer emonies and extended the guests a most cordial welcome. Following the singing of “America” and “God Bless America” by the entire group and the invocation by Rev. J. K. Roberts, member of the club, an elegant a banquet was served in four courses by the Woman’s club of' the Joan^ community. ' At the conclusion of the dinner President Moorhead rapped for order and introduced the club’s guests for the occasion, Blr. and Mm. William Brooks Owens of this city, Mr. and Blm. Arnold E.
