Steam in the stemmery means stems steamed out of tobacco and the shipment of the stuff directly oad. Wc wish this enterprise abundant success. The Atlanta Journal haa an ar ticle on “Too many lawyers," and saya tLere .s in several States a pronounced movement for restrict ing admission to the bar. Without, we hope the least bit of selfishness, to make the conditions of admission very severe would be for the good of the country, the uplifting of the profession and, we may say the well being of a certain class of young men. The experiences of the old lawyers of the country will say that, as a ’^ule^tbere is little pasture for the profession now. The Summerville News quoting e Greenwood Journal, which •ids the Edgefield Chronicle, favor of having elections four yoars and biennial sea- f the legislature. It goes ther to recommend that no -4*1 ©Jigibt© ? for a second except as to the legislature, yse here the oftener one serves ter one is qual ified ; but as to f dier offices, there is not much •ortunity for iraprovomont. We heartily agree with our con- jmporaries as to fewer elec tions and longer terms, but in sev eral of our offices, a thorough knowledge of the duties pertain ing thereto, and readiness in the dispatch of business, is a great convenience to the people, and we cannot see why an officer should not succeed himself if the people want him. Lemons as Medicine. They regulate the Liver, Stom ach, Bowels, Kidneys and Blood as prepared by Dr. H. Mozley, in his Lemon Elixir, a pleasant lemon drink'. It cures biliousness, con- stfpation, indigestion, headache, malaria, kidney disease, fevers, chills, impurities of the blood, pain in the chest, heart failure, and all other diseases caused by a torpid or diseased liver and kid neys—nine-tenths of all the dis eases of the South and West are caused by the failure of the liver and kidneys to do their duty. It is an established fact that lemons, when combined properly with oth er liver tonics, produce the most desirable results upon the stomach, liver, bowels, kidneys and blood. Sold by druggists. 50c. and $1 bottles. mozley’s lemon elixir Cured me of sick and nervous Jiead- ache, I bad been subject to all my life. Mrs. N. A. The Savannah Morning News thoughtfully discusses this ques tion which ere long may be of ab- |.„ sorbing interest to the country. jLeadiug Democrats—among them ^Col. W. J. Bryan, Senator Jones, iarman of tbeNationalDemocrat- ic tSunmittee, Grover Cleveland and otheiV-are opposed to taking pos- session^f far off countries inhab ited by people that cannot bo as similated. As a rule the Democrats are op posed to it, while the Republicans favor such annexation. The president, however, is not with his party and his policy, if firmly adhered to, wjjj UWoly elim-i iuate what is carfled the imperial policy. If tl>ef nresident remains firm, ‘ his party may fall into lino and ti ke the question out of politics. If his party does not sustain him, it will be curious if ho has to look to the Democrats for support. The question may bring on very lively Congressional campaigus. The Bur*. La Urlppa Cur*.
