The comrais sion took the matter under advise ment, but It is understood the re quest will be turned down. The express company is assessed at $4!t7.10r>, which is 42 per cent of the total value of the company n property In the state. State and county taxes, as well as municipal faxes, will he levied •against this property. Forty-two per cent is the taxation basis in South Carolina. Nelson Frierson, of Columbia, at torney for the express company, ap peaied before the commission today and requested the reduction of the assessment. His father is said to he an American born Assyrian, and his mother an ! American woman. They live in Rich-1 iriond, Va. Simons is about 20 years ! old. i When Simons was arrested he ad- milted that he had improper relations with the girl. He has retained J. J. Evans as attorney.
