Let the city council and police officers feel the moral force of the elbow touch of all people in this community who love law and or der, and its salutary effect will be seen. We do not see that campaign meetings serve any good purpose. In this day and time people read newspapers more than ever before, and ere the candidates appear person their minds are made up This year it seems that many do not care to even look at the can didates. “Blind tiger” is the name pop ularly given to a place where liquor is sold illegally. It is called tiger, we presume, because this beast is a night-time prowler, and the de scriptive term “blind” is applied we conjecture, not because he can- not see himself but because no body can see him. The business of blind tigerism must perforce be conducted on the sly. Seemingly a campaign of educa tion in personalities has begun in South Carolina. The meeting in Charleston would tend to establish that fact. There was nothing in it to enlighten anybody, and there was that in it to prove the meeting utterly valueless. If the meetings to come be anything like those already held, then, from an educa tional standpoint, the campaign is inienominious fail!
