Brunson, the prohibi tion candidate for governor, has filed his pledge to abide the result of the democratic primary. We take this to mean that Mr. Brun son, though a prohibitionist, is still a democrat and will conduct his fight within the party. War and pestilence—these two are frequently coupled. We have war, we had small pox, and we might have yellow fever, the latt named disease having recently ap peared in Mississippi. Howeve”, the authorities have acted with commendable promptness, and we sincerely hope they may be able to prevent the disease from spread ing. Dispatches in the morning papers convey the information that Samp son hss Santiago and about thirty miles of tbeneighboriug coast, and that everything is ‘ in readi ness for the army of occu pation ; that the troops are ready to more from Tampa, but that they will not move until a strong naval convoy is ready to accompany them.
