We have never known before any* thing like the demand for barrels. We hear that one trucker just out side of the city limits needs 1,000 and the rush from all quarters is so great that we fear a corner in this much ueeded article. An experienced tobacco man, uow living in our city, who has recently made a tour through the country says, that there is a re vival in tobacco farming around us and that the amount of land planted in this “way” in this sec tion will double that of last year. The operations of last year gave much encouragement to our farm ers. They are learning to make and cure good tobacco and have been getting excellent prices here at home. This gentleman, who hails from a fine tobacco section in \ ir- ginia, speaks highly of the quality of tobacco sold on our warehouse floors last fall and winter, and in formed us that there is steady de mand for it in Europe, and that the great bulk of the tobacco made in this belt is shipped there.
