Women and Ckildrea Burned In Their Beds en Third Floor of a House In Charleston. Charleston, Feb. 26.—Nine livee were loet in a fearful fire which raged for a short while in Church street thia (Saturday) morning. At 2:10 o’clock a policeman on duty noticed big eparka dying from the teuemeut house at No. 160 Church street. The officer fouud that a blaze was issuing from one of the windows on the first floor. The doors were broken open and the family on that floor were rushed out without damage. Somebody yelled that a family of women were asleep on the third floor. The police rushed upstairs and when they reached the top atory the life saving work was •topped by the flames, which seemed to be playing over the en tire building. Screams from dy ing women were heard and Officer Bagby rushed in and pulled out three charred bodies. The quick work of the fire de partment checked the fire and it was soon under control, but oot until the livee on the third atory had been lost. The dead are: Mrs. Rebecca Kuicktneyer. Albert O’Neal. Oaewell O’Neal. Josephine Kuickmeyer, 17 year* of age. Katie Kuickmeyer, 16 years. Leonora Kuickmeyer, 9 years. Francis D. Kuickmeyer, 6 years. A baby of Mrs. Kuickmeyer, 1 month old. Mrs. Kuickmeyer is th wife ot Theodore E. Kuickmeyer, a car penter. Lillio Kuickmeyer, 3 years old.— The State.
