New Orleans, Sept. 17.—The fever situation in New Orleans to day assumed a more serious aspect than at any time since Sunday, when six of the St. Claude cases were declared to be yellow fever. At 6 o’clock this evening the board of health of the city an nounced the appearance of eight new cases, and of these one death, that of Zena Brauner. At the office of the board of health to-day the reports were considered somewhat surprising and disappointing. The situation had so materially improved last night that it was felt that pretty much the worst had come, and that conditions would improve. Yesterday was one of the hottest days of the month, and as yellow fever thrives in that character of weather, there seems to have been a rapid development of germs. The physicians still feel, howev er, that there is much that is satis factory in the situation. It ic true that the new cases to day repre sent the extreme upper the extreme lower and the central portions of the city, but there has been no serious spread from the original foci, and the hopeful opinion is still expressed that the disease may be controlled and that there is no imminent danger of an epi demic. Yesterday there was but one death in Mobile and no increase in the ratio of cases. At Vicksburg, Miss., eight new cases are reported — The Old Green Stamp Again. to have the old gi*<ju »Camp again. The secre tary of tJw treasury and the post master genera!, after consultation " with the president, have decided to change the color of the two * cent postage stamp from carmine s *o the shade now u-*ed on govern ment notes. The government, it is said, will save $10,000 a year by printing the two cent stamps in green, as ink of that color is less coatly than carmine. The public will be glad to see the familiar color once more. It will recall the time when it took three cents instead of two to send a letter.— Atlanta Journal. There is no mountain resort better or more favorably known than ‘The Head.’ The cash value of this bequest is not yet known, but a few years ago Dr. Miles refused a cash offer of $20,000 dollars. The trustees have the right to make any disposition of the property they desire. The trustees accepted the gift with all conditions, and papers have been prepared by Capt. Fill a bottle or common glass with urine ami let it stand twenty-four hours; a sediment,or settling indicates an unhealthy condition of the kidneys. When urine stains linen it is evidence of kidney trouble. Too frequent de sire to urinate or paip in the back, is also convincing proof that the kidneys and bladder are out of order. WHAT TO DO^ There is comfort in the knowledge so often expressed, that Dr. Kilmer’s Swamp Root, the great kidney remedy fulfills every wish in relieving pain in the hack, kidneys, liver, bladder and every part of the urinary passages.
