He says that he soon after wards left the train, and that Pur vis was the only colored tramp re maining on it. After this identi fication, Purvis was arrested and taken to jail. Meara was also taken to jail to be held as a wit ness, as he is a tramp and cannot give security for his appearance. Oflicers Flowers and Benton feel pretty sure of the reward of 5250.” DR. O. KOLLOCK DEAD. Purvis had a few days previous to the murder drawn a pistol on another flagman on the A. C. L. They directed the man to a phy sician and notified the railroad of ficials, meantime shadowing the man. After the mau had had his wound attended to, he went to Austin’s boarding house, and se cured lodging. Here he was shadowed by officers Flowers, Benton and Maultsby until 10-20 when Capt. J. C. Higgins, General Train Dispatcher on the A* C. L-, and Detective Turbeville arrived from Florence with a mau named Meara, who claims to have been on the train with the man who shot Blackwell. All business was suspended, as everyone was desir ous of paying a last tribute to Che- raw’s prominent and beloved citi zen. No man stood higher in Cheraw or this section ot the State, and in his death a great loss is felt. The Doctor’s wife survives him, also four children, Mrs. Frank A. Wad- dill, of Cheraw ; Dr. Charles W. Kollock, of Charleston ; Alex. G. Kollock, of Darlington, and Mrs James Dillingham, of Charleston. Lout.
