Among the novel facts learned concerning the life hlJ tory of the Insect is that in this locality it has six instars or moulting stages, exclusive of the e,gg stag?? five immature stages, the sixth being the adult stage. Heretofore the inBect has been represented as passing through five instars in its development. The bulletin, which is well illustrated, discusses the insect as to ? ^ its seasonal history in South Carolina, behavior, mating, life hlstor5>, description of the egg and nyinphal instars, and the sexual differences among adults.
