"t M ' MRS. J. B. O. CAUGHMAN DIED SATURDAY % The sudden death of Mrs. J. B. C. Caughman at her home Eau Claire Saturday morning was a shock to her family and friends. Mrs. Caughman retired on Friday night in what seemed to be better than usual 4 health, but during the night probably toward dawn passed so quietly i and peaceably into the other worldj that those who were with her thought j her only asleep, until they arose to j "* - - -r ? /lor go aDouc xne ciuues uj. nv-v? . Mrs. Caughman, before her mar riage was Miss Ella Cornelia Drafts, the daughter of Mr. George P. and Mrs. Lucinda Drafts, of Lexington, S. C., where she vkas born, January 13, 1851. She was, married in 1872, to Mr. J. B. 0. Caughman, also of Lexington, and her devoted familyplanning to celebrate her golden wedding next year. " Mrs. Caughmam lived a life of devotion to her family, being the mother of nine children. Six children j survive their mother: W. E., Dr. B. | D., Dr. G. G., all esteemed citizens of Columbia, and Misses Mamie, Stella and Lebla who have lived at the parental ."home. Three children preceded their mother to the other world, Walter, who died when a child, Virginia, wYio died in young womanto the middle West, died not quite two years ago. Mrs. Caughman was devoted;' also to her grand-children i nine whom are living and two dea?a. .Mr. and Mrs. Caughman spent * ? nearly twenty years of their married y life in Lexington, but came to make their home in Columbia in 1891 where J they have lived among an ever-widening circle of friends. For many years Mrs. Caughman has been a devoted member of the Lutheran church, first as a member of St. Stephen's congregation, Lexington, then of St. Paul's; | Columbia, and at the time of her -3+ V, T Vir\ r'Vi nf the A cppnsion. The funeral services will he held in St. Stephens' church, Lexington, this afternoon at 3:30, and the burial will be in the old family plot in the St. Stephen's church yard. The funeral services will be conducted by Dr. W. H. Grever of Eau Claire, Dr. H. A. McCullough, of Columbia and Pastor Obenschain, of Lexington. The fjpllowing friends of the family have been named as pallbearers. Honorary: Capt. D. G. Griffith Messrs. E. B. Roof, James Hendrix, Scott Hendrix, W. P. Roof, James E. Rawl, James Caughman B. Jj.
