Geese, in common with ducks, are utilizers of forms of feed confined to ponds and streams, but they are in that particular excelled by ducks. On farms where ponds or streams are available ducks will convert into meat and eggs great quantities of water insects and various aquatic forms that would not be utilized by any other kind of poultry. Ducks, while they consume much grass and other green stuff, are more partial to ani mal feeds and are very energetic in patroling the branches, creeks, and ponds as sources of fod supply, say poultry specialists in the United States Department of Agriculture. ADVERTISE IN THE TIMES ORDER QUEENS NOW Clemson College, July 19.-Atten tion to bee-keepers is directed to the difficulty of obtaining queens on short order this season. It appears that a number of queen breeders have gone over to honey production , because of the high price of honey at this time, say sthe Extension Ser vice bee specialist, and it is necessary that all beekeepers desiring queens should place their orders promptly, as queens ordered now will probably not be delivered before August 5 to 10. A list of reputable breeders may be bbtained from any of the bee keepers' magazines or from the Ex tension Service of Clemson College. It is advisable for beekeepers to co operate and send club orders and thus receive considerable discount. Those who have failed to receive In formation Card No. 10, should write for it because it furnishes a guide for all beekeepers who intend to re queen. Great care should be exercised as to the places from which queens arg ordered. The breeder should be a reputable one in order to get purely mated queens and to prevent the ac cidental introduction of European or American foul brood. So far as is known now, South Carolina is yet free from these injurious diseases. ADVERTISE IN THE TIMES BETTER DEAD Life is a burden when the body. is racked with pain.
