ENGINES COLLIDE NEAR CHARLESTO! Two Southern Railway Trains ii Smashup. THIRTY-FIVE INJURED But None Are Killed in Accident. Mrs Mikell Whaley and Daughter o Columbia Hurt. Charleston, Feb. 21.--Thirty-fiv persons, among them Mrs. E. Mikel Whaley and her daughter, Miss Coli Whaley of Columbia, were injured or a wreck on the Southern railway a 7:46 o'clock this morning when pas senger train No. 13 from Columbia and train No. 16 just leaving for Co lumbia crashed together in a head-or collission six miles from Charleston No one was killed. Both locomotives were completely demolished; both engineers, Conle and Sullivan being and the firemar saving themselves by jumping fron the engine just before the crash. Atlantic City, N. J., Feb. 22.-Gov ernor Edwards of New Jersey an nounced hoer today his intention of going to the National Democratic Con vention for an anti-prohibition plank in the party platform. He criticized William Jennings Bryan, whom he de signed a man "without a State," and declared that he had no fear that Mr. Bryan will seriously injure the party should the conv'mtion take an anti prohibition stand. Governor Edwards said he was convinced that both par ties must face the prohibition issue as the livest that will become before the national conventions. "I don't care who is the party's can didate," said the Governor, "my only concern is to see this question of na tional prohibition threshed out.
