U new report is unique in 'that for the first time it takes up the economic advantage in actual money value to the state of Mukden's charitable in stitution. The establishment of such institutions from humanitarian mo tives needs no justification, the report I intimates, but when it is realized that an untrained blind girl costing the state say $10 a year, with training can earn forty dollars a year, the econom ic advantage to the state seems worth while. The report estimates that a thousand blind girls with training can in a generation produce to the ex tent of several million dollars. --W-S-S USE A LITTLE VINEGAR IN CLEANING GREENS All greens must be picked over care fully and carefully washed. This is sometimes a long process, for a large quantity is required to make a dish of the cooked greens. It takes about a half bushel of spinach to make a little more than a pint when cooked. A half cun of vinegar in the water in which the greens are allowed to stand before washing is of advantage as it kills the small insects that are some times hard to distinguish from the leaves themselves. -W-S-S- ,' UNIVERSITY FOR SOLDIERS Work in France Begun with Gen.
