The words "objection" and "approved" would perhaps lead to a misunderstanding of the position we occupied. and for that reason we ask this explanation at your hands. We knew nothing of the appointment of the new Board until we saw it published, and as the Senator explained when we met in Manning on Saturday the 5th. he had the appointing power, it would have been under the circumstances, as suming a prerogative we did not possess either to approve or dissent to the ap pointment, especially as the appointees had already received their commissions, before the meeting on the above named day.
