merton last week when Miss Rosa
Mood. of that town. was united in mar
riage to Mr. W. R. Scarborough of
Sumter, Rev. W.A. Rodgers of Orange
burg officiating. The bride is a sister
of Dr. W. R. Mood, and .the groom a
progressive young business man of
Sumter. They were the recipients of

In the last issue of THE TIMES, under
the headline "The County ('ommis
ioners Meet" the following sentence
appears:
"'Representatives Richardson and
Woods disclaimed having been consult
ed with regard to any change, but they
had no objection and approved the ap
pointments. The words "objection"
and "approved" would perhaps lead to
a misunderstanding of the position we
occupied. and for that reason we ask
this explanation at your hands. We
knew nothing of the appointment of
the new Board until we saw it published,
and as the Senator explained when we
met in Manning on Saturday the 5th.
he had the appointing power, it would
have been under the circumstances, as
suming a prerogative we did not possess
either to approve or dissent to the ap
pointment, especially as the appointees
had already received their commissions,
before the meeting on the above named
day.
