The (Ireenwood Index-Journal carries an article in a recent issue in j regard to a certain change in the i schedule on the Southern between j between Anderson and Columbia, I with a letter from the secretary of the chamber of commerce of Anderson to Passenger Agent W. E. Mc-; Gee. We confess that we have not been able to read the papers very closely, i and that we do not exactly under- j. stand just what change it is propos- i -I'd to be made in the schedule, and ! can not understand from the article. It seems to be such a change as will run trains to give an opportunity to i visit Columbia and return the same itl ' CI llWJiy CiLLK. i IV/ Iliaav Ct w, V_? v.' V * vvu nection through Anderson for Atlan-: ta. And that the proposed change ! meets the rpproyal-of Greenwood and j Newberry. Such a change, as would j give us an afternoon train from Columbia, or rather an earlier train! from the up-country to Columbia,; would be acceptable. And a good | connection bv Anderson for Atlanta {, I I would also be acceptable, provided it carred a Pullman so that passengers from this section could get a sleeper at Newberry "and reach Atlanta the next morning, leaving Newberry late in the afternoon, and then be able to . have a sleeper back from Atlanta so j as to reach Newberry early in the i morning, would be a fine schedule and j very acceptable to the people ot this; section who have business in Atlanta, i And there are a good many people i who go very regularly from Newberry | and along this side to Atlanta, but j they either go via Clinton, and that, is a long wait at Clinton, or an all day I trip on a local if'they take the day j train, or they go via Greenwood and ; change cars, and that is a long wait j and takes all day to make the trip, j A schedule that would give a night j train to Atlanta and a night train j back without change of cars, and car- j rying a sleeper would get the travel j from this section and be a great con- j venience and a time saver. H. Sondley, one of the best iown men i;i Richland county, passI away yesterday morning at his other's heme about 12 miles from olumbia. He is survived by one sis- \ r, Miss Carrie Sondley, and two others, C. T. ondley of Dallas, j exas, and A. M. Sondley of Richnd county.
