Dr. Dominick studied medicine in the Medical College of South Caro lina, at Charleston. He graduated in medicine with honors in a large class in April, 1000. Dr. Dominick located at Prosperity and began practicing medicine in the spring of 1000 directly after finishing his course in medicine. He has.been practicing medicine a little more than six yeprs and has built up a large and lucrative practice.. Besides the practice Of medicine Dr. Dominick is a successful business man. Dr. C. T. Wyche. Dr. C. T. Wyche, who has long been identified with the business, profes sional and political affairs of. New berry county, was born in Granville county, N. C., May 26, 1857. He was educated in the common schools and at the normal school of the University of North Carolina, and graduated in 1881 from the College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York. He came to South Carolina, and first practiced medicine in that portion of Edgefield county now included in Sa luda, and later in the lower portion of Newberry county. Dr. Wyche was'married to Miss Sense, of this county. He moved to Prosperity and was elected to the legislature, serving three terms. He has been mayor of the town, and is a member of the board of trustees of the graded schools. Dr. Wyche is a public-spirited cit izen and has ever lent his aid to every movement looking to.-the Ad vancement of Prosperity and of New berry county. Four Denominations--Strong Church es With Large Congregations and Sernest Pastors. The Methodist Church. The Metodist chiurch, wIhich is now% one of tile influential chircies of Prosperity, was organized as old Beth esda, about one mile below Prosperity, soon after the close of the War Be tween the States, in 866. Organized in the troublous tinies of reconstrue tion, War.ship was discoitinlued in the place of organization and preachiig was held in the town hal] in Pros perity for many ,ears. About 1880 Wightman Chapel was built, and se'r vices have been held thtere until the present. The Rev. H. W. Whitaker, of thii. county, is tile present pastor. He is earnest and zeAllouls, and the chuilrc is growing under his leaderslhip. Grace Lutheran Church. Grace Lutheran chiurih is one of the strongest and most activ-e cliurcihes in the Lutlieran Synod of South Car olina. It is composed of an admirable class of people andl has among its menbersiip of nearly thrce hundred, some of the most active and success 'fl Cliristian workers in the. state. In otlier aetive congregations in other towns and. cities and distant sections, there are today those who were once members of (Iace chiurch. As near as can be learned, the or Ianization of this church -was effect ed in the year 1858 and soQu after wards. the first house of worship was .crected. After a lapse of twenty years, in 1S78, steps weie taken to build.a l new churlich and the house in wicihl the congrregration worlships at. present was the result. But as tle present builing. is old, and does not meet the present needs of the congre gation, a new chiurch is to be irected in the next twelve months-one that will be moderni in all its heaingsi and that w ill measurnie up fully to all the needsh (if the congr egationI for years5 to come. Whitaker, Pastor Methodist Church A. Marks, T. 0. Keister, S. T. Hall W. H. Hiller, and W. A. Lutz. The Rev. Ml. 0. J. Kreps is the pres ent pastor. The semi-centennial of this chure will be celebrated in 1908. This church has done a great work in the past. It has a great work to .h> in the future. With better facili ties than ever for doing this work, with an intelligent, noble and devot ed people, there is not a doubt that this work will be done. Grace church is thoroughly loyal to the synod and all the institutions of the church at large. The Baptist Church. Prosperity was occupied by the State Mission Board of South Caro liina inl 1880. The station was supplied with preachiing from 1880 to 18S4 by Revs. Panmdlh, Seymiore, and Elkins. The organization of a church was perfected the fourth Sunday in April, 1884, with a miembership of 11, R1ev. N. B. Williams pastor. At a meeting oneJ month later it was dIeided to erect a concrete buihlini.. In March, 1885, thle ehimrelihbildinig was begun and continued1 undler many dlilficulties. Much damage was done the buildling by excessive rains and wind, andl the wvork was mneh dlehayed. The Rev. W. B. Elkinis took charge of the wvork Januia ry 20, 1887.
