The enlistment wil^be for the period of existing emer gency. Men enlisted must be beyond the draft age; that is, over thirty years of age. The enlistment of married men is authorized. Men with former service in the Spanish Ameri can War, Philippino and China Hoxer Campaign; men with former service in the Army, Navy and Marine Corps, and men with experience in well organized fire and police departments are especially desired. Where practicable, men enlisted for the United States Guards will serve in the vicinity of their homes. Liberal allowances will be made bv the government for the support of families of men en* listing for the United States Guards on the same basis as other enlisted men of the Army, under the system of compulsory and family allowances. It is requested that the widest publicity be given this matter in order that men beyond the draft age, and men bevond the ase of enlistment in the Regular Army National Guard and National Armv be given an opportunity to serve their country. All male citizens between the ages of 21 and 60 yeafs are deemed Taxable Polls, except those who are maimed or ior other causes are incapable of earning a support.
