If I may bo allowed the distinction, Addi son addresses the heart, Johnson the snut, of wan. Their difference of stvle is suited to the peculiar difference of their efforts. The one has the hamionv of the spheres ; the other the fer vor ol the elements. We read a paper of Addi son* admire, and read on ; we peruse a sentence of Johnson, ami stop to wonder. The former lias Mcdiccan symmetry ? the latter Colossal immensity. Addison evinces Corinthian ele gance ; Johnson Porick proportions. In the one we view the lineaments of Parnassian Apollo ill the other the features of Olympian Jove.
