The girls wear dresses even shorter than (he regulation walking skirt. They have knapsack* strapped over their shoulders, wear broad bottomed, easy shoes, dark hose, and are lixed up for comfort. They propose to take a trip on foot through all of the mountainous counties of North Carolina. In their baggage they have hammocks which will b?| used in ease they have to camp out at night. The trip will consume about two months and cover a district of six or eight huudred miles. The girla are all young, the oldest, probably not over twentyrtwo uud the youngest sixteen. They are lithe and hearty and appear I to bo able to make fiftc-n or twenty' iuil?-8 n day easily. Thr* e of the fair pedestrians are from Virginia and the other three from Maryland. Three of them nr.- pupils of a well known (seminary in Virginia and the daughters of well known business men in that State, Their present novel and independent trip is made principally to gratify one or two of the party, who could not afford to travel on railroads. When o desire was expressed by them in th$ presence of the other four girls who make up the party, to see the magnifi cent scenery of the western part of this State, it was at once proposed to tramp it through the country, and thus avoid railroad fares and at the same time af? ford a better view of the scenery, The party will leave here to morrow for Ashville in Bucombe County.
