Be it ordered by the Intendent and Wardens of the Town at Camden, and by the authority of the Fame, That hereafter, annually, during the month of January in each year, the following Taxes shall be levied and paid into the Treasury of the Town of Camden, for the support of the govern?* ment thereof: that is to say on all negro slaves be* longing to citizens of the town, or livingthererifetb* sum of fifty cenls each: to be paid by the oWner* or anient of tha owner fif a non-resident V or htf the person who shall hire such slave, and briojf puch slave to reside in the said Towr.; on all negro slaves, not being mechanics, owned by citizens of the said town, and hired out within the said town for a longer period than one month during the yeat, one dollar each; on all negro slaves, not being ine* clianics, owned by non-jesidents of the town, and hired out to work, or who shall work in the said town lor more than six months in each year, two dollars; which said hist mentioned tax shall be paid by the person who shall so hire such slaver and bring such slave into the paid town. 2.
