A meeting was held on Paris Island "011 Monday, and another will be held on St Helena next Saturday. Gen. The train will leave this morning prompt ly at 10 o'clock and a large crowd is expected. *- ? New Orleans Molasses at Robkbt's. Xew Buckwheat at Robebt'b. Cong-essmnn Smalls, with several other politicians and the hand went up to Allendale on Monday to hold amecling. A large crowd was present, hut a shooting affair spoiled the j/ood effects of the meeting. It seems a colored man got drunk and fired off a pistol when he wa8 arrested and put in the guard house. A crowd of colored mop then broke the door and rescued the prisoner and a general firing wasopened, but we are without particulars excepting that, one white man was reported shot. The IT.- S. troops then took possession of the prisoner and our delegation left for home. At a meeting of the Cabinet on Friday last a report was read from Marshal Wallace on the affairs in this state. The report is mainly a recapitulation of the representations heretofore made by Governor Chamberlain nod ? No action was taken. The proceedings seem to have hud for thiir object the justification of Tuesday's Cabinet action and Cameron's order to Sherman, winch resulted in massing the army of the United States not engaged in the Indian war at Columbia. Pratt s Astral (>11 at Robert'*. Dried Pcac'oue at Robert's. Mr. Charles T. Mitchell, the president of the Savannah and Charleston Rail road, has offered one hundred dollars reward for the apprehension ot the incendiaries who *et fire to the freight depot at'A hiie Hull, which was burned, with two bales of cottou and eighteen barrels of spirits of turpentine, last week. The attempt now making in South Caroiiha, saj-s the New York Herald, by the Federal administration to rc-eleet Governor Ctftkmbcrlain by intimidation and coercion of the voters of the State is so dangerous as an example for the future, as well as of such pernicious effect upon the peace and welfare of the State and of the colored people, who arc there, as in Louisina and Mississippi, made the football of unscrupulous political gain uteris, mat ic ougnt to l>e understood by the Northern people. It it not safe to vote for a party whose leaders not only countenance butcommend such a dangerous and unconstitutional interference by tho party in power to perpetuate its power and elect its favorites.
