Montgomery, Ala , October 10.? One month ago, the Sheriff of Sum tor County convened a posse of forty two men, to suppress a negro riot, I near Belmont. The rioters dispersed j without awaiting the arrival of the posse, and the posse waa disbanded. A little negro, who carried the United States mail on a mule, was detained a few minutes on the road by the posse, to prevent an unnecessary spread of excitement in other and quiet settle? ments. Afterwards, this posse was ar? rested as Ku Klux, and also for stop ping the United States mail, but were released on a bond of $100 dollars each.
