The Democratic "facTORY.?The New \ York Herald aaya editorially'of the Now Hampshire election: # - A Democratic victory in this State is an nnusaal and noteworthy event, no matter how small the majority. As Mer catio said, " 'tis not so deep as a well, nor so wide as a church door; bot 'tis "eniJtigh," New Hampshire can hardly be called a representative State, so far as elections go, nor should we estimate the result too highly as an evidence of public opinion. Thero were many looal oironmBtances in Mew Hampshire calcu? lated to distract and weaken the estab? lished party organizations?the Repub? lican especially; but the fact that the Administration did not succeed in rally ing tho party, shows that, in New Eng? land, Iii possesses uiuilciaueiu uutuufity. # - Advices from Arizona state that tho1 Hnalapals Apaches declare their willing ness to return to their old grounds and obey all the orders of General Oxook, bnt they say they will "all die before they will go to the Colorado River re? servation. If the troopB want to fight them they mast expect a big battle." General Crook is at San Carlos. On the 10th inst., the Apaches stole a quantity of live stock from Simon Sanchez and Francisco Romero, near Sneeon. A party of men pursued the thieves, and a light ensued, in which Sanchez was killed by the Indians. A terrible murder is reported from Knoiville, which occurred at Beaver Creek on Saturday night last. Two ruf? fians, named Duncan and Webb, from Anderson County, went to the house of Bichard Reynolds, tied him, took his wife out and raped her, then offered to release him if ho would pay $100. Fail? ing in this they shot and killed him. The murderers have not yet been ar? rested. Among the last words of Mr. Sumner were these: "Take care of- my Civil Bights Bill." It is not a little curious that, immediately after his death, his body suffered such rapid discoloration that embalming was almost impossible. What a strange thing it was, that the fanatical negro-worshipper should huve turned blaok at last. The closing of Philadelphia saloons on Sunday has caused much distress in certain circles. It is alleged that 60, 000 habitual topers havo been thrown out of employment, and great suffering must necessarily ensue.
