Sooth Carolina Monument Associa? tion.?Tho monument proposed to be erected by the women of Sonth Caro? lins, in memory of their gallant dead in the late Confederate war, has been de? layed in its completion by want of the necessary funds. The cost of tho monu? ment will be $10,000; tho first install? ment of $5,000 has been already paid to the distinguished nrchitecta, Muldoon & Co., of Kentucky, who are proceeding with tbe monument, which, when finished, will bo a noble and bountiful tribute to our deceased soldiers. It is requisite that $5,000 nhall be raised by Ootober next, to complete this sum of $10,000. This can be easily obtained, if each District will pledge itself to give $200, aud if overy individual who re? ceives one of these circulars will send tho small sum of $1. Let a treasurer and collectors bo appointed in ovcry vil? lage and oity, and let the money collect? ed by these local treasurers be promptly forwarded to tbe General Treasurer, Mrs. W. K. Bachman, at Columbia. If the ladies in these Districts will grVo tbe matter their earnest attention, we are oonvinoed that they will soon secure tho amount repuired. Surely none will re? fuse to aid in perpetuating the memory of those who connted not their lives dear that tuey might save the land they loved so well; and though the cause they died for be lost, all is not lost, so long as their grand epitaph, "They died for their principles," whether engraven on marble or on the tablets of our hearts, shall contain for as and for future gene? rations inspiration aud hope.
