Grigaby, BJdgewayj_ The Cincinnati Commercial thinks that the system' adopted by certain banks of allowing interest on current deposits, especially on bank balances, is a pernicious one, and one that has done much to force money into q^natnral ohannels and dangerous uses. It has caused a constant drift of currency to New York, where the banks have been able, by loans to reckless speonlatorB, to allow more fox it than those elsewhere. There is much truth in this view of the ease, and the evil is not' unworthy of a remedy. The Washington papers say that pre ? parations are being made by the Ameri? can Colonization Society for its regular fall expedition for Liberia.
