Be it ordained by tlie Mayor and Aldermen of the CUy of Columbia, in Council assembled, That any person in whoaa poBBGEbion any horse, mule, cow, hop, dog, sheep or goat shall die within the limits of this city, shall immediately, upon tho death of such animal, cause tho same to bo removed without the limits of cho city, or buried in some remote plaoe, not within 300 yards of any habitation, in suoh manner as to prevent the eame from being offensive; and any per? son negleoting to remove or bury any auch dead animal, within six hours after its death, shall bo subject to a penalty of $ 5 for eack and every oOunce. "Sec. 2. And be it further ordained, That if any such person shall permit any auoh dead animal to remain unburied or unremovod from the limits of tho town longer than six hours, the Chief of Police, or any one of his aeeistante, shall cause the same to be re? moved or buried at the expence cf auoh per? son."
