THE 'DULYIiirniWTTT '"Let our just Cersurea Attend the Truo Event." BY J. A. SELBY. COLUMBIA, S. C., SATURDAY MORNING, MARCH 1G, 1872. VOL. VII-NO. 306; PETER'S PBNOIS.-From the published official reports of lost year's "Peter's pence," which, every one knows, is a perpetual subscription in all oonntries in aid pf the Holy See, it appears that North ? merion gave nb ont 3,000,000 francs, or $600,000. In Europe, Bel? gium stands at the head of the list, Franoe having fallen behind. It is not generally known that Pius IX continues to pay all those who served the Pontifi? cal Government before the revolution, and thuB supports hundreds of families largely from the fund known as "Peter's pence." SHOT ron CONJ?RINO.-The dead ho dy of a oolored mon named John Francis I Black, known before the war as Bruin's j Tobo, has arrived in Alexandria, Ya., from Arkansas, for burial. The deceased was shot ami killed by one of his own raoo, for having "conjured" or pnt a "spell" on him. A man has invented a process by whioh he proposes to improvo the worst oases of bald head by Him ply planting npon them fresh crops of hair taken from the heads of other persons. Now, why not graft on a new head at once? We know scores of men who would be vastly benefited by such a process. Out in Montana the cold has been so intense that whiskey had to bo Bold by the stick. Tho principal of t ;cso aro constitutional debility, heat of thc 1 atmosphere, coupled with humidity, climatic changes, and tho physical prostration conse? quent upon a long illness. But whatever the cause, it must bo perfectly clear that if tho norvoua ayatem ia unduly rclaxod, something is required to braco it up. That something ia HOST ETTE R'S BITTERS, which is uni veraally recognized as tho moet complete and speedy rocupcrant of tho physical forces in existence. It has been so thoroughly and widely demonstrated as to bo a mutter ?f positive certainty and familiar knowlodgo, that tho Bitters will not only robabilitate tho physique, whon shattered and wastod by dis-1 ease, but will also, if taken systematically, actually compensate the constitutionally fee bio frame for its deficiency of strength, and by infusing new life into a weak By stem, en? dow it with tho health and vigor which nature has denied it.
