North Carolina. Those banditti have, for their numbers, com? mitted more murders, bumed moro houses, outraged more women, and stolen more property than any other Ku Klux horde in all the Southern States. The other Ka Kluxes have suspended operations. Wo read no moro of noc? turnal raids in Georgia, South Carolina and Alabama by those spooks on horse? back. Tho committeo have had to rake np events that took place mouths ago, in order to find material for that labored campaign document which they call a report. But the Lowrey crowd were on the war-path as late as Friday night last, when they perpetrated ono of the most audacious crimes that bas distinguished their black career. They swooped down on IiUmbertOD, the County seat of Robe? son County, N. C., at night, broko into oarriage factories and stables, and helped themselves, and tbeu into the sherill"s offloe and one of tho principal stores of tbe place, whence they took two largo iron safes, one of which held $22,000 in money and other valuables. With this lot, and any quantity of Bmaller game, they started out of the town, aud boro off everything in safety, except tho she? riff's strong box, which tumbled off the dray apparently unnoticed. All Lumbertou, aud all North Caro? lina, are wild with excitement ovor this outrage, but they have boen wild on tho same subject for two or threo years, and neither their frenzy nor tho reward, now reaching $35,000, seems to bo of any avail against the Lowreys. Now, here is a well-known, unquestioned, present existing Ku Klux Kluu-not ghosts, not myths, but villains of flesh and blood as much a matter of fact and history as the Stato of North Carolina horsolf. We can understand why so powerful and desperate an organization is difficult to suppress. But why-ahl why-do tho Ku Klux Committeo omit all referenco to it in their report? Wo leave the committee to explain that tho beet way they can. But with most knowing read? ers, it may suffice us to observe that theso aro black Ku Kluxes, The Low? reys and their followers ure negroes and mulattoes. They aro persecuting .the whites on account of their color, aud committing, without horrible exaggera? tions, every variety of atrocity which any white klan in any part of the South has inflicted on the blanks. In all re? spects, they aro of tho Ku Klux order, only that tho colors aro reversed, aud it is the whites who are robbed, tortured and killed. To have pretended to in? vestigate Ku Klux affairs, and to have exoluded all allusions to this most noto? rious of gangs-tho only one now really flourishing-has put tho committeo in the awkward position of seeming to ex? tenuate the Lowrey murders, rapes, burnings and depredations. Not that tbe committeo mean to do this, bat such is tho actual effect of the omission or oversight. About election time, as wo all know, is the season for tricks and de? vices to make political capital, and, therefore, tho appearance of the Ku Klux majority report is the most natural thing in the world, and tho non-mention of the Lowrey negroes precisely what might bavo been expected.
